In early October, vendors and partners for the school district converged at the inaugural technology showcase, bIT Expo. This event was hosted by the Brentwood UFSD Information Technologies Department at East Middle School on Thursday, October 4th. bIT Expo was open to the entire Brentwood community including BUFSD employees, parents, and community groups. All attendees had the opportunity to get hands on experience, view demonstrations, and ask questions regarding all technology on display during the event. Technology specialists from several companies provided interactive demonstrations on equipment and applications in use by all schools. bIT Expo 2018Presenters include David Suaviso from Sharp, Chris White and Dayna Quinn from Microsoft, and William Cavallo from Brothers II Business Machines. The IT Department partnered with Eastern Suffolk BOCES to bring in multiple products available to the district such as Google Expeditions, 3D Printing, Ozobots, and more. Brentwood Public Library and Suffolk Transportation, as well as, district departments (Bilingual/ENL, Food Services, and Transportation) were in attendance providing information on the technology available to the Brentwood community.  bIT Expo also included presentations from members of IT department with Expo presenters and Board of Edthe IT department on Digital Classrooms, eSchoolData, Security technology, and Paperless Initiatives. The event concluded with the IT Town Hall, which gave attendees the chance to ask questions regarding technology in the district, as well as, a chance to win one of several raffle prizes. The first bIT Expo was a tremendous success and the IT department is already making plans for next year.
