Possible Return to School Five (5) Days

Possible Return to School Five (5) Days
Posted on 04/16/2021
Dear Parents,

Last Friday, the NYS Department of Health determined the social distancing mandate of 6 feet may be reduced to 3 feet in areas of low, moderate or substantial community transmission. This reduction in space prompts us to consider ways in which we may bring more children back to school 5 days a week in grades 1-11 (Kindergarten will remain in split session). Although this is possible in most of our classrooms, there is still a directive for 6 feet distance in areas of high community transmission such as study halls, lobbies, auditoriums and in cafeterias, especially when students are eating.

Your answers to the questions below are important to determine how best to proceed while keeping the health and safety of students and staff a priority. Please fill out one survey per child by Monday, April 19, 2021.

It is important to understand we may be unable to fulfill every student request to return to school every day because of the limited capacity of many of our classrooms and schools. It is also important to note that your child's schedule may be altered to accommodate a return to school for five days; however, every effort will be made to keep the same schedule.

After we compile the results of this survey, we will determine if we can accomplish moving forward with a five day return to school this year. I will let the community know as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Mr. Richard Loeschner
Superintendent
