Director of School Safety and Chief Emergency Management Officer
Byron McCray has more than 28 years of experience in Human Services, School Safety Operations and Law Enforcement Administration in public settings. He was educated at John Jay College, Elisabeth Haub School of Law (Pace Law School) and Cornell University.
Mr. McCray has related certifications and practice in law enforcement instruction, firefighter/fire police, Diversity & Inclusion professional, procedural justice and a variety of other trainings as well as completing a majority of FEMA Emergency Management Institute’s training catalog.
Committed to providing a safe and healthful school district, Mr. McCray’s area of responsibility includes providing safety information, leadership, policy development and training to all employees of the School Safety Department and district staff. In addition, Mr. McCray is the principal contact tracer for all matters involving COVID-19 within the Brentwood Union Free School District and maintains an organizational goal of working with the Department of Health to maintain a safe and healthful school district.

As the largest suburban School Districts in New York, Brentwood is protected by professionally-trained and a highly knowledgeable workforce. Responsible for patrolling the 23 facilities, enforcing rules and regulations, and aiding students and staff in a variety of emergencies.
