0340 Evaluation of Instructional Support Staff
- 0000: Philosophy, Goals and Objectives
The Board of Education believes that the evaluation of instructional support staff is an essential component of supervision and decision-making regarding staff promotions and retention. The Board therefore directs the Superintendent of Schools to develop standards and procedures for the evaluation of all instructional support staff.
Each instructional support staff member shall be formally evaluated, in accordance with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, once each year by his/her immediate supervisor or other designated person.
The purposes of support staff evaluations are:
- To provide an objective basis for employee improvement;
- To maintain salaries commensurate with job requirements and responsibilities;
- To ensure that all instructional support staff personnel are meeting all requirements to maintain their positions;
- To ensure that employees meet performance standards;
- Provide a basis for pre- and post-evaluation discussions;
- Identify individual strengths and weaknesses; and
- To determine areas where professional development opportunities are needed.
