Join us for a fun and welcoming event for all! Enjoy sensory-friendly activities and crafts, get creative with face painting, and explore resource tables featuring local services, therapies, and supports. Be sure to participate in raffles for a chance to win exciting prizes!

Free safety resources will be available, including child ID cards with photo and fingerprints (children must be present), medical ID cards for seniors and individuals with disabilities, and tools like the Blue Envelope and Yellow Dot to help first responders in emergencies. Information about Project Lifesaver will also be available to support individuals with cognitive impairments.

Brentwood Steps Out For Autism and Mental Health

Organized by SEPTA and the Department of Special Services, this vibrant event brought together students, families, staff and community members for a day of celebration, support and education.

On Saturday, April 26, the Brentwood Union Free School District proudly hosted its annual Autism Walk and Mental Health & Wellness Fair. Organized by SEPTA and the Department of Special Services, this vibrant event brought together students, families, staff and community members for a day of celebration, support and education.

Inside the Sonderling gymnasium, more than 99 vendors, student groups and local organizations shared resources, activities and information on health, wellness and community services. In the cafeteria, a dedicated sensory room provided a welcoming space for sensory-friendly activities.

Highlights included the presentation of the colors by Brentwood’s AFJROTC cadets, an energetic dance showcase by the Xplosive Stepperz, and special readings by authors Jacob Greene and Jean Derespina. Throughout the day, families enjoyed music from an energetic DJ generously donated by Wendy Rodriguez and delicious food provided by Campbell’s Bakery, La Espiguita Bakery, 7-Eleven, Pollo Campero, Florian Food Service and others.

The district extends its heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors, participants and volunteers who made this event possible. Special thanks to Sean Coffin, Coordinator of Health, Psychology and Social Work, and SEPTA President Sheree Sibley for their leadership and dedication to our students and families. We are also deeply grateful for the generous support of our local businesses, community partners and school staff who contributed raffle baskets, staffed tables, and volunteered their time.
