Bringing together students, families, staff, and community members for a day of inclusion, education, and celebration

On Saturday, April 27, the Brentwood Union Free School District proudly hosted its Fourth Annual Walking Into Acceptance: All‑Abilities Expo. Coordinated by SEPTA in collaboration with the Department of Special Services, this impactful event welcomed students, families, staff, and community members for a day dedicated to inclusion, learning, and connection.

The expo took place in the Sonderling Gymnasium and featured nearly 50 vendors, student groups, and community organizations. Attendees explored a wide range of resources, interactive experiences, and informational displays focused on health, wellness, and community services. To support sensory-friendly engagement, a dedicated sensory room was available in the cafeteria, providing a calm and inclusive space for participants. Guests also enjoyed music by Spin DJ Academy, along with refreshments generously provided by 7‑Eleven and Entenmann’s.

This year’s event proudly showcased student creativity through the official Walking Into Acceptance T‑shirt design. In partnership with Brentwood SEPTA, students worked alongside the Art Department to bring the message of acceptance to life. Their artwork beautifully reflects the values of inclusion, diversity, and the importance of every unique perspective. We commend the students whose talent inspired this year’s design:

Special thanks to SEPTA President Sheree Sibley for her leadership and continued commitment to supporting our students and families. We also acknowledge the Autism & Neurodiversity Committee for their instrumental role in organizing the event, along with the School Safety, Performing and Fine Arts, IT Department, and BHS custodial teams for their invaluable assistance.
