Get Ready for The New School Year!

With the 2024-25 school year set to begin in mere days, here are some important reminders for parents and students to be able to be more fully prepared to succeed on September 4. Consider this a back-to-school checklist!

1) Download the "Where's the Bus?" App.

All large buses in the Brentwood School District are equipped with GPS technology that will allow parents to know precisely when their child's bus will arrive at the bus stop. This application called "Where's the Bus?" is free to download and allows for the elimination of stressful mornings of rushing to the bus stop! To learn how to download the app, follow the step-by-step instructions on this page.

2) Make Sure Your Child's Tech Is Up-To-Date!

The advancement of technology has become vitally important to the learning capabilities and experiences of children across all school districts. Luckily, we've put together a Back-to-School Technology Checklist which you can access by clicking on this page. The page also includes guides and videos for parents who need more information.

3) Fill Out the Food Services "CEP" Form.

Food insecurity is something that no family needs to worry about, and Brentwood is participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) which will allow for all enrolled students to have breakfast and lunch at no cost! Fill out the form to enroll in the CEP program by visiting this page.

4) Sign Up for the Parent Portal to get the most up-to-date information on your child's progress in our schools.

The Parent Portal is a web-based program that allows parents to obtain important information concerning their child's academic progress including attendance, progress reports, and report cards. Parents can also directly communicate with their child's teachers and update any emergency contact information that will help our staff get in touch with you in an expedited manner. Learn more about the Parent Portal on this page.

5) While You're At It...Sign Up for ParentSquare!

ParentSquare is an app used to communicate with the students and parents of our district as well as other community members. The mobile app for ParentSquare will afford you the opportunity to have the most up-to-date information on programs that are happening in our district as well as any important messages from Central Administration and weekly recaps of the exciting activities that have been going on in our schools! 6) Know That Your Child Will Get to School Safely.

The Brentwood Union Free School District's Board of Education has adopted the following Transportation Policy in accordance with New York State Department of Education regulations and prior voter approval by our community residents. The page with the transportation policy also provides important information regarding bus etiquette to ensure safe travels to and from a child's home and our schools.

7) Being Ready for the School Year Means Having the Right Supplies!

Whatever school your child is attending, we've got you covered with the school supply lists you need to help your star student succeed! Click here to visit our School Supply List landing page to find your school and search for what your child needs in the classroom on a daily basis.

8) Cell Phones and Proper Attire: Preparing and Caring for the 2024-25 School Year and beyond.

It is no secret that cell phones are an important part of our daily lives. However, the proper usage of cell phones and any other electronic devices is increasingly important to ensure that the children of our district are safe and happy while within our school buildings. Additionally, our district believes in celebrating successes and being appropriate and respectful in the image of our students via the clothing that they are wearing. In accordance with this, updates have been made both to the Cell Phone Use and Dress Code Policies which you can learn about by clicking here. Accessing this page will show the CARES acronym that is being passed around to all of our school buildings to ensure district-wide implementation of these policies.

If you and your child have completed this checklist, then congratulations! You're ready for the 2024-25 school year to begin and we cannot wait to see everyone on September 4!
