Brentwood BOE Honors Students, School Resource Officers at May Meeting

One day after the 2023-24 district budget was approved by the community, the Brentwood Board of Education convened for its May business meeting at the Anthony J. Felicio Administration Center.

Students from East Middle School, North Elementary School, and Twin Pines Elementary School were recognized for winning first-prize laurels at the New York State Art Teachers Association's (NYSATA) Olympics of the Visual Arts. The wins marked a successful debut for Brentwood in this competition, held in Saratoga Springs.

Additionally, North Elementary's Isabella Ruiz was honored for winning first prize in the Shanti Fund Art Contest for promoting peace and the environment. Cindy Velasquez of East Middle School was also the recipient of a certificate of achievement for placing first in the Town of Islip's Earth Day Poster Contest.

Lastly, Brentwood SROs Alfredo Alvarado, Justin Fernandez, and John Wright were hailed for their work in keeping the Brentwood schools safe for faculty, staff, and students.

The Board of Education presented certificates to all of the above award-winners.
