AP Scholars and Regeneron Semifinalist Honored at BOE Meeting

At Thursday night's Board of Education meeting, the Board celebrated the accomplishments of its AP Scholars as well as a BHS student who was named a semifinalist in the Regeneron Science Talent Search competition.

Twenty-three BHS students received Certificates of Achievement for their work in the classroom to achieve at least a 3.0 or higher on three or more AP exams. Several of these students were named AP Scholars with Honor for averaging 3.25 on their AP exams and one student---Katherine Pena---was named an AP Scholar with Distinction for averaging a 3.5 on her AP exams.

In addition, AP Scholar Minnahil Tariq was lauded as Brentwood's semifinalist for the Regeneron Science Talent Search competition. Her investigative research into the ability of an invasive form of algae to sequester carbon on the Long Island coastline enabled her to be one of 300 students across the country named to this distinguished group.
