In these ongoing efforts to create opportunities for students, Brentwood High School has employed Career and Employment Options (CEO). CEO is a company focused on boosting opportunities for students of all learning levels, including those with disabilities. Brentwood High School and CEO have conducted two Virtual Meet the Professionals Days. Over thirty-five Brentwood students participated in each of these virtual events featuring businesses in different industries.  To prepare for this event, the students researched the specific industries and was prepared with pertinent questions. On May 6th, we will have a Virtual Career Day, enabling the Brentwood district to have direct links to local and regional businesses for their students. Students and teachers will be more informed about the changing work world and job opportunities during these difficult times.
These events provide High School students work readiness support services, which includes the following instruction:

  •  Job exploration
  •  Alternative career path exploration
  •  Self-advocacy
  •  Soft skills
  •  Time management strategies
  •  Networking

Thank you to the following business community participants:
ACC&C, CPC Pharmaceuticals, We Connect the Dots, PSEGLI, Suffolk Transportation, Northwell Health and Maximum Security

The next meeting will be held on May 6th from 10:00-11:30 AM via Microsoft Teams.

School Business Partnerships of Career & Employment Options (CEO) is invested in high school students of all learning abilities.  What does their future look like?  New careers and skills are needed in this 21st century, and Long Island needs to connect to its future employees.  Our students need to learn about the relevance of their education.  They need to understand and see opportunities in the “real world” that will help with their decisions after they leave high school.  Students who are offered more “real life” connections are more motivated while they are in school and more successful afterwards.  Students are our investment and success of our business growth and future.
