BUFSD to Purchase Student Laptops with Donation from Altice

Posted on 09/21/2020

Brentwood, N.Y. (September 2020)—Brentwood Union Free School District (BUFSD) received a helping hand from Altice USA as part of the company’s COVID-19 response initiatives to support communities recovering from the impact of the pandemic. The district was presented with a certified check in the amount of $20,000 and will allocate the funds to purchase devices for distant learning.

“We are grateful for the support that Altice has provided with this generous donation,” said Mr. Richard Loeschner, Superintendent of Brentwood Union Free School District. “Since school closures in March, the coronavirus has amplified the need for bridging the digital divide in our community and now with assistance from Altice, we are one step closer to our goal. It’s critical that all of our students have the resources to learn at home and remain connected with their teachers. On behalf of the Board of Education and central office, we are deeply appreciative of Altice’s gesture.”

This initiative is part of Altice’s pledge to donate $1 million to 30 school districts who have been deeply affected by the coronavirus. The company is committed to ensuring broadband access for all and understands that now, more than ever, having the right tools to remain connected is just as critical as access itself. With this contribution, Altice USA hopes students and schools can continue learning in this new, virtual environment.

“At Optimum, we are proud to support the communities we serve and their school districts, who play a critical role in helping to develop the innovators and technologists of tomorrow,” said Jen Ostrager, Vice President, Community Affairs.
