Student-Athletes Share ‘What’s Important Now’ at WIN Breakfast

Student-athletes gathered this week in the Ross Library for the district’s WIN (What’s Important Now) Student-Athlete of the Week Breakfast, where recognition and reflection took center stage.

This year, Steven Davis, the district’s coordinator of health, physical education and athletics, did not read each award winner’s name. Instead, each student-athlete announced the next honoree and shared what WIN means to them. The approach created a more personal and connected atmosphere, allowing students to recognize one another while reflecting on their experiences.

The format proved to be a meaningful addition to the event. Students spoke about the values that guide them both on and off the field, with several common themes emerging throughout the morning. Many emphasized togetherness, sportsmanship and a commitment to continually improving their craft.

Organizers noted that the student-led format brought a sense of authenticity and unity to the breakfast, as athletes spoke in their own voices about the importance of staying focused on what matters most in the moment.

The WIN Breakfast continues to serve as an opportunity to celebrate student-athletes not only for their performance, but also for their character and dedication to academic growth.
