South Middle School Hosts Mentorship Event with Oak Park Students

Middle school students at South Middle School recently welcomed second grade students from Oak Park Elementary School for a collaborative event celebrating Women’s History Month, creating a space for mentorship, creativity and student voice.

During the visit, middle school students led a series of activities designed to foster confidence and connection among the younger students. The groups worked together to create vision boards, share personal goals and engage in guided conversations centered on identity, growth and empowerment.

Throughout the day, the older students took on leadership roles, offering encouragement and support while helping the second graders express their ideas. The younger students responded with enthusiasm, participating actively and sharing their thoughts with growing confidence.

The event highlighted the impact of peer mentorship at an early age. By bringing together students across grade levels, the experience created an environment where participants felt heard, valued and supported.
