ROTC Vice Wing Commander Melissa Saravia receives $2K tech scholarship

Brentwood High School senior Melissa Saravia was recently awarded a $2,000 scholarship in recognition of her accomplishments and commitment to using technology in her education and future goals.

The scholarship was given by the Association of School Supervisors and Administrators for Educational Technology (ASSET), an organization that supports teaching and learning with computers and educational technologies in schools.

In its award notification, ASSET commended Saravia for “leveraging technology in your learning and future” and noted that her accomplishments distinguished her among applicants.

Saravia, who is also Vice Wing Commander with Brentwood’s AFJROTC, was recognized during a scholarship luncheon held May 15 at Captain Bill’s Restaurant in Bay Shore. SMSgt Wayne Hanna attended the event with her – a proud moment for Brentwood High School.
