Ositos Soccer Club Builds Belonging Before the School Day Begins

Before most students begin their school day, members of Laurel Park’s Ositos Soccer Club are already on the field building friendships, teamwork and confidence through the game of soccer.

Created by speech therapist and former Division I soccer athlete Sofia Sanchez, the before-school program brings together students across different learning experiences and abilities in a supportive team environment centered on kindness, respect and inclusion.

Through morning practices focused on encouragement and collaboration, students learn the value of showing up for one another while developing connections that extend beyond the field. The club emphasizes that every student has a role, every player is valued and every difference is embraced.

Programs like Ositos Soccer Club reflect Brentwood educators’ commitment to creating meaningful opportunities that support and inspire students both inside and outside the classroom.
