East Middle School Hosts Alzheimer’s Awareness Walk

Students at East Middle School participated in a community awareness walk on Nov. 6 to support the Alzheimer’s Association, raising a total of $1,667.

During the event, Tinamarie Hardekopf, director of development for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Long Island chapter, addressed the students and emphasized the significance of community involvement in dementia care, research and support services.

The Alzheimer’s Association is a nonprofit health organization dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support and research, with a mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.

The walking event provided students an opportunity not just for physical activity but also for engagement in a cause that impacts many families in the region. Organizers noted the positive energy and community spirit displayed by participants.
