Brentwood Senior Earns $1,000 at Islip Music Competition

Brentwood senior Elias Gonzalez earned second place at the Islip Music Lovers Club Scholarship Competition, receiving a $1,000 award for his clarinet performance and recognition for his continued dedication to music.

Gonzalez was also invited to perform at the organization’s Scholarship Benefit Concert on April 26, where he appeared alongside Mr. Tims. His performance drew a standing ovation from the audience, highlighting both his technical skill and expressive musicianship.

The annual competition brings together talented student musicians from across the region, with participants evaluated on performance quality, technique and overall artistry.

Gonzalez plans to continue his musical journey this fall at SUNY Fredonia, where he will major in music education and clarinet performance. In addition to his academic pursuits, he will serve with the Army National Guard 42nd Division Infantry Band, balancing his commitment to both service and the arts.
