Brentwood High School Cadets Serve Veterans at American Legion Post 1006

Recently, the Brentwood High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) NY-773 “Fighting Falcons” completed a unit service goal by volunteering after school to serve meals to veterans and their families at American Legion Post 1006.

The service project supports AFJROTC coursework requirements that emphasize citizenship, leadership and community engagement. Cadets assisted in distributing food and interacting with veterans in recognition of their service to the nation.

Cadet Lt. Col. Jalline Guevara, who also serves as the Board of Education’s ex-officio student board member, helped organize the initiative and secured sponsorship from Chick-fil-A to support the food donation event. Instructors said the experience provided cadets with an opportunity to demonstrate respect and gratitude while fulfilling an important component of their program’s mission.
