Brentwood Educator Honored as NYSATA Region 10 Art Educator of the Year

Jennifer Grasso-Moise, an art teacher at East Middle School and this year’s New York State Art Teachers Association Region 10 (Suffolk County) Art Educator of the Year, recently returned from the association’s annual conference in Binghamton, where she played a dynamic and meaningful role throughout the weekend.

“Being surrounded by hundreds of passionate art educators is such an energizing experience,” Grasso-Moise said. “To be recognized for years of heart, hustle and dedication to this work is truly humbling. I’m grateful to collaborate with so many incredible educators across New York State – and even more grateful to bring that creative spark and community spirit home to my students and colleagues in Brentwood.”

During the conference, Grasso-Moise led hands-on art workshops, co-presented with a guest mural artist and hosted an interactive art experience for attendees. She also helped shine a spotlight on Brentwood pride through a vibrant student art exhibition. In addition, she supported NYSATA’s student scholarship fund by donating themed raffle baskets and her own photography – work that will be on display at the Islip Arts Council Gallery in Bay Shore throughout December, with a public reception on Dec. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Her involvement reflects her commitment to elevating the arts, uplifting student voices, advocating for cultural connections and proudly representing Brentwood on a statewide level.
