The Brentwood Board of Education celebrated student achievement and community support during its May meeting, recognizing honorees from academics, athletics and the arts while also acknowledging the successful passage of the district’s proposed 2026-27 budget.

Among those honored were members of Brentwood High School’s winter color guard and student-athletes from the winter and spring sports seasons. The recognitions highlighted accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom and reflected what district officials described as the spirit of “Brentwood Pride.”

The Brentwood High School winter color guard earned first place in the Scholastic A3 Division at the Mid-Atlantic Indoor Network championships in April. The team posted a winning score of 85.98, outperforming 11 other competing guards in the division. The victory continues a strong tradition of success for Brentwood’s marching arts program, which has consistently ranked among the top performers in regional competition. The team is led by color guard director Nick Ashley, as well as coaches Ciara Gonzalez, Katlyn Dicks, Kassandra Sanchez and David Chavez, whose leadership has helped guide the program’s continued growth and competitive success. What makes this program especially meaningful is that Ciara, Katlyn, and Kassandra are proud Brentwood graduates who have returned to give back to the community that helped shape them.

Additionally, the Board recognized a group of student-athletes for their dedication and accomplishments. These students have committed countless hours to training, competition, and teamwork. Their determination and sportsmanship represent the best of Brentwood.
