 Gary Mintz was the Principal of Brentwood High School from 1989 until his sudden death in 1995.Together with Mr. O'Brien, the current high school principal, he had developed the idea of having a community 5k race on the morning of the scholarship pancake breakfast in December.The first attempt had only 28 runners participate. In1995 the race was renamed in Gary's honor. On December 5, 2000 over 500 runnerscompeted, raising over $5,000 in scholarship money for Brentwood seniors. |
