Research 10- Research in Math, Science & Technology

The research 10 course is designed for 10th grade students who are interested in developing the skills necessary to design and implement research projects. Students design and investigate projects independently as well as with research teams. In Research 10, students develop the framework necessary for developing research proposals as well as design and implement an independent project. Introductory research students will compete in a variety of contests to include but not limited to: Dupont Science Essay Contest, Brookhaven National Lab Essay contest and Long Island Science congress. Admission to the course is based on completion of an application. Applications can be requested from a guidance counselor or a science department chairperson.

Research 11- Advanced Research in Math, Science & Technology

The research 11 course is designed for students who have previously completed research 10. Research 11 is an advanced research seminar in which students prepare for their individual long-term independent project. Individual research projects may be completed under the supervision of an in-house mentor or students may wish to work with a principal investigator at a local university. Research methodology and skills are furthered as Research 11 students must conduct rigorous scientific investigations. Research 11 students must be committed to completing a project that will be used for submission in local and regional science competitions. Students compete in a variety of contests not limited to: Long Island Science and Engineering Fair, Long Island Science Congress, Adelphi University Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, and the Young epidemiology Awards.

                                    Research 12-Senior Research Symposium
